Earlier this month, the Seine river rose to exceptional levels in Paris, flooding the roads on the lower banks and scaring many officials, fearful that the Great Flood of 1910 would happen again. Métro & RER stations were underwater and many museums along the river (Like the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay) closed as employees rushed to move priceless artwork and artefacts from the underground stores. Parisians and tourists alike kept a worried eye on the rising waters. Thankfully, the river (only!) rose to 6.10m (the critical level being 6.60m, when water would start to flood the higher banks and nearby streets). Surronding towns were not so lucky, and several were badly flooded (Including several chateaux in the Loire Valley)
