A little under an hour by train from Vienna, Melk Abbey was originally founded in the 11th century, although the current buildings date back to the Baroque era, and are surprisingly bright yellow!
Sadly, photos are forbidden inside, so you'll only see the exteriors here, which was really a shame, since the abbey church and the library were breathtaking - although I was glad I decided to be lazy and brought my Fuji x20 instead of my bulky DSLR!
