The Villaceaux estate, in the Vexin français is about an hour's drive from Paris. There are many things to see, a very large (and beautiful) garden, and two châteaux - à Renaissance manor house and a 18th century château.
It is known as the home of the infamous Ninon de Lenclos (well the home of her lover, Louis de Mornay). Ninon was one of the most renowned courtesans of the 17th century (at the time of Louis XIV, the Sun King). She was also an author and patron of the arts and known for her beauty and wit.
Louis de Mornay was also the lover of Françoise d'Aubigné, future Madame de Maintenon - mistress then second wife of Louis XIV.
The estate is now owned by the region, as the visit is entirely free. It's really lovely place, with lots of see. Definitely a nice afternoon out!

Ninon de Lenclos lived until the age of 84, and remained in very good health. She was also said to have remained beautiful throughout the years. Legend says it was thanks to the 'fountain of youth' here at Villarceaux.
This 16th & 17th century pavilion, where Ninon lived during her time at Villarceaux, is decorated with gorgeous painted frescos from that era - but is sadly not open to visitors (except on very rare occasions).
Built atop a hill - in the 18th century, in the Louis XV style - the château has a magnificent view of the estate, but also the surrounding countryside.
The dining room houses a large (nude) portrait of Françoise d'Aubigné (future Mrs Louis XIV), painted by her then lover, Louis de Mornay, Marquess of Villarceaux. (see the last photo of the 4th row below)
