A small village in the Corrèze department - and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France, Collonges-la-Rouge is recognisable by it's red sandstone buildings. It is also the founding member of French association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
Parts of the Saint-Pierre church date back to the 11th century, while most of the houses were built in the 16th & 17th centuries. The village is pedestrian which makes wandering through the small streets and real pleasure. It can get quite crowded with tourists, so early morning and late afternoon are your best windows for a nice quite visit. And if you want some local, yummy food, I recommend Le Cantou restaurant.
