Being a child of the 80's, one of my earliest 'major world events' memories is seeing the Berlin Wall fall. When visiting Berlin, I could not not visit the memorial.
The entire place was quite impressive. It still bears the weight of History, yet the people of Berlin have taken it back. The segments of the Wall still standing are covered in graffiti, while people cycle around or lay in the grass and children run around and play.
What are these photos about?
The old Church of Reconciliation was trapped directly between the West and East sides of the wall, and was eventually destroyed. After the Wall fell, the parish decided to rebuild a Chapel on the site.
Just me and my camera!
King Friedrich 's late wife Sophie Charlotte, it's architecture is strongly inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
Quite amusingly, several of Berlin's main museums are conveniantly located together on an island of the Spree river.
